Upcoming Spring Events in Calgary, AB

Calgary Opera’s Cosi Fan Tutte (May 3 – May 5): if you’re in the mood for world-class comic opera, don’t miss Cosi Fan Tutte at the Calgary Opera. This timeless “battle of the sexes” story offers some of the genre’s most melodic, memorable music.

For the Love of the Game’s Rugby Day (May 6): little-known fact – the first rugby game in North America was contested between Harvard University and Canada’s very own McGill University (the pride of Quebec). Rugby is big in Canada, especially in Calgary, AB, where this all-day event is dedicated to teaching kids and teens the ins and outs of this fascinating game. Several rugby legends will be on hand, and each chid receives a rugby ball.

Stampeders Fanfest (May 12): are you ready for some football? The Calgary Stampeders annual Fanfest at McMahon Stadium is back and bigger than ever. This free event includes a pancake breakfast, live band, interaction with Stampeder players and coaches, and photo ops with the venerable Grey Cup.

James and the Giant Peach, performed by the Nose Creek Players (May 24 – May 26): this Roald Dahl classic comes to life for three nights at the Bert Church Theatre. Adapted for the stage by David Wood and performed by the talented Nose Creek Players, this tale of a lonely boy’s discovery of friendship and hope in an unlikely place is perfect for families.
