How to Celebrate the Holidays in Calgary, AB

There’s no shortage of fun things to do in Calgary, AB this holiday season, and Okotoks Chevrolet Buick GMC, a leading GMC dealer in Calgary, has some tips for what to see and do.

Beauty & The Grinch: this unique take on How the Grinch Stole Christmas is playing at Jubilations Dinner Theatre through January 20. A three-act play, a four-course meal, and everyone’s favorite holiday sourpuss? Count us in.

A Christmas Carol: families across Canada have this timeless Dickens’ play atop their list of holiday activities. On stage now through Dec. 24 at the Max Bell Theatre in the Arts Commons, join Tiny Tim, the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, and Ebinezer Scrooge in this granddaddy of all holiday yarns.

Once Upon a Christmas: while it’s not exactly the Calgary Stampede, this scenic horse-drawn wagon ride possesses its own unique wintertime charm. Through Dec. 23, you can enjoy a ride around Heritage Park complete with live historical theater, caroling in the nearby church, and somewhere on the premises, a visit from Santa Claus and his reindeer.

Canadian Pacific Holiday Train: there are few better ways to donate to those in need than to do it during the Canadian Pacific (CP) Holiday Train program. This is the 19th year that CP is accepting monetary and food donations, and this year’s event is extra special because it concludes CP’s “Canada 150” celebration. Be sure to check out the Spirit of Tomorrow train car if you didn’t catch it this past summer.

This is just a small sampling of the many exciting, family-friendly activities happening in and around Calgary, AB this winter. Of course, if you’re idea of exciting also includes test-driving a new GMC Terrain, head over to our local Chevy dealership this December!
